Every case we take happens on a real block. Before a surveillance job, a background check or a bug sweep, we look at who lives in the area, how many people rent, and what gets reported to police there. This page is that same look, for all 55 neighborhood areas of the five boroughs, built from public Census and NYPD records.
New York City has 8,483,844 residents. Over the 12 months from July 2025 through June 2026, the NYPD took 183,569 felony complaints, -2% on the 12 months before. It also took 15,140 fraud, forgery and identity theft complaints and 102,830 harassment and stalking complaints.
Borough totals include every complaint NYPD published for that borough, with or without a map point, so they run a little higher than the sum of the neighborhood rows below.

How We Use These Numbers
Renter heavy blocks turn over fast, so neighbors are less likely to clock a parked car, but doormen see everything. Areas where most families own and have stayed for decades are the opposite. A neighborhood with a lot of fraud complaints tells us what kind of paper trail a client is likely to be up against. None of this replaces being on the street. It tells us how to plan before we get there.
If you want to talk about a case in any of these neighborhoods, reach David or call (646) 461-4650. The first consultation is free and confidential.
Sources. People, income, renters and divorced or separated shares come from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey, 2020 to 2024 5-year estimates, read from the Bureau's own summary files on census.gov for each Public Use Microdata Area. Complaint counts are our own tally of NYPD complaint records on NYC Open Data (historic and year to date) by report date, July 2025 through June 2026 against July 2024 through June 2025, placed inside the 2020 area boundaries by their map point. A complaint is a report made to police, not a conviction. Records NYPD publishes without a map point are left out of the neighborhood rows.
